My concern that Sarah Michelle Gellar may be one of those haunted people who always finds some spirit to get on the wrong side of has been lifted (read: my concern is that The Grudge will turn ridiculous by always having the same girl somehow, against all odds, keep running into an angry ghost has been lifted). Lifted because Amber Tamblyn has been cast in the lead role for the sequel.

Takashi Shimizu is directing Grudge 2, he directed the original Japanese versions. So, my new concern, ’cause I’m just full of ‘em, is this will turn into Ring 2…which was awful, and directed by the guy who directed the original Japanese versions of The Ring franchise. Is this a pattern?

Chris Penn was found dead in a Santa Monica condo yesterday.

Chris was in a number of memorable films including Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Footloose, Rush Hour, and Starsky & Hutch. He has two films in post-production, Aftermath and King of Sorrow, both have been set for a 2006 release. He is also the brother of actor Sean Penn.
