Yes, there will be a prequel to Friday the 13th, which is fine. The franchise has turned horribly silly with films like Jason X, so it’s not like it could be further harmed.

Set to direct is Jonathan Liebesman, the guy behind Darkness Falls and the not-yet-released Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel. Apparently the guy only does horror?

Anyway, Darkenss Falls blew, but haven’t seen the Chainsaw prequel yet so can’t comment on that. It would be nice, though, for a director to come in and spark some new life and interest into one of the classic horror franchises.

Friday the 13th, prequel

Linklater’s A Scanner Darkly is one of those films a lot of us film geeks want to see. I have to admit I have mixed feelings about the animations itself. While I think it’s quite cool, and more aesthetically pleasing than traditional animation, I also find it distracting because it looks so Photoshop.

But…the trailer looks very cool. I’m psyched for the film. See the trailer here.
