Isaac Hayes Leaves South Park
posted by narc under Uncategorized, 11:20 am, 1 comments

Isaac Hayes, a Scientologist, leaves the show South Park after they make fun of Scientology stating “Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices.”

This begs the question, if he’s so concerned about religious beliefs, then why didn’t he leave after the Christmas poop episode? The holy spider of the Vatican? Or The Passion of the Jew? Or the Mormon “dumb dumb” episode?

Could the issue not be mocking religions, but which religion Matt Stone and Trey Parker decide to mock that week?

Sounds like either Hayes’ panties were all in a bunch over the Scientology episode, or the higher-powers of the Scientology church pressured him, or gave him an ultimatum, to leave.

I never thought Isaac Hayes would need a backbone.

Peace out.

Here’s the results for the Oscars (the categories we care about). I made some hits and some misses. I’m surprised Crash won best picture, not because I thought it was a bad film, because I liked Crash, but I thought it was heavy-handed.

Best Picture: Crash
Best Director: Ang Lee - Brokeback Mountain
Best Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman - Capote
Best Actress: Reese Witherspoon - Walk the Line
Best Supporting Actor: George Clooney - Syriana
Best Supporting Actress: Rachel Weisz - The Constant Gardener
Best Original Screenplay: Crash

Peace out.

Oscar Picks

My girlfriend said I should give my Oscar picks because it’s another opportunity to talk about masturbation (confused, see here).

So I’ll make a few predictions. Here the are:
Best Picture: Brokeback Mountain
Best Director: Ang Lee - Brokeback Mountain
Best Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman - Capote
Best Actress: Felicity Huffman - Transamerica
Best Supporting Actor: Jake Gyllenhaal - Brokeback Mountain
Best Supporting Actress: Frances McDormand - North Country
Best Original Screenplay: Match Point - Woody Allen

That’s as far as I’m going. As you can see, I think Brokeback Mountain is going to do well. Call it a hunch.

Peace out.
