I know a bunch of us were hoping for Guillermo Del Toro for the movie of the Halo video game, but television special effects guy Neill Blomkamp (who?) will be helming the blockbuster film.
Universal (and producer Peter Jackson) is showing a lot of faith in this guy, I gotta believe there’s a reason considering he’s got zilch directing experience. Maybe a great pitch, concept art, or demo. But, hey, Halo can’t be worse than King Kong!

No, Speilberg is not going to direct World of Warcraft.

Speilberg’s awfully busy, but add the movie to the video game World of Warcraft to his lineup…behind an Abraham Lincoln film, a supposed sci-fi epic, and Indiana Jones 4.
I don’t think the World of Warcraft movie will end up being directed by Speilberg, call it a hunch. We see films pass through directors before actually finding a home, and I think this is one of those times.
