While disappointed by the movie Hannibal, Silence of the Lambs is a classic and Red Dragon (even though I give Ratner a lot of crap) was a decent prequel (yes, I’m aware of Manhunter).
Hopkins created an amazing character with Hannibal, which is why the latest movie has me utterly worried. It’s the story of a young Hannibal, played by Gaspard Ulliel, during WWII.
Can we ever expect anyone, especially a young actor, to do justice to Anthony Hopkins’ Hannibal?
There’s no release date yet for the movie, though it is in production. The book it’s based on, Behind the Mask (again by Thomas Harris), isn’t even out yet. It’ll hit stores November 28th, which suggests the film will be ready around the same time.
Peace out.
